The booming development of the soybean market continues in Ukraine. Perhaps, this is the only crop whose production increases some 100% a year. A pleasant fact is that this results not only from an expansion of plantings – very relevant to Ukraine’s agricultural production, but also from rising yields.

The surprisingly dry summer of 2014 had no negative impact on the soybean harvest, contrary to other crops, especially sunseed. Farmers harvested this crop from almost all the area (96%) by early November. According to UkrAgroConsult’s estimates, the crop may be 33% higher than last year.  The soybean quality is rated as good.

Owing to the bumper 2014 crop, Ukraine is planning to substantially boost both domestic crushing and exports. By the way, the first month of the season – though not being very representative in terms of volumes, clearly sets the future trend.
