Poland is considering an opportunity of setting up joint companies with Belarus to process Polish food stock, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland Marek Sawicki said in an interview to the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.

Nearly 1 million tonnes of food unclaimed has accumulated in Poland and the reason for it is generally known – Moscow's embargo on food supplies from the countries that introduced sanctions against Russia. “We are busy with looking for new markets. These are the United States and Canada. Of course, we are interested in a closer cooperation with the neighboring Belarus. The Belarusian side, however, has set forth particular conditions, i.e. to enter Belarus with our investment and technologies. The same talks we had with Kazakhstan,” the Polish minister said.

Marek Sawicki stressed: “If we organize processing, Belarus will give green light to the Polish stock to its market and Russia will buy products made in Belarus. We will discuss joint companies at all the levels and will hold meetings regarding investments.”

In his words, Poland has started considering these issues with businessmen discussing the terms for their investing in the construction the necessary infrastructure in Belarus. “I hope we will reach some decisions and agreements in the near future,” the minister noted.
