Kyiv is ready to stop sanctions against a number of Belarusian goods if Minsk lifts restrictions from Ukrainian deliveries to its market, said Ukraine’s government commissioner for European integration Valeriy Pyatnytsky. According to the official, the parties held trade consultations in Minsk. “It was recognized that the free trade agreements had been violated. Although Belarus is not a WTO member, but Russia, when entering this organization, committed itself that the Customs Union countries would keep in line with these rules,” Pyatnytsky added. He noted that the parties are ready to correct the situation. “The Belarusian party has already made a series of steps to correct the situation, amended certain resolutions. We, on our part, have held a consultation with our producers and decided that we can accommodate the Belarusian party’s request and suspend the sanctions against Belarusian goods. This suspension will be valid if Belarus fully unblocks deliveries to its market, i.e. cancels the need for licenses,” said the government commissioner.
