The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry estimates the gas need of agricultural producers at 2.5 Bl m3 till the end of 2014. Naftogaz Ukrainy national joint-stock company will sign direct agreements with agricultural producers for supplying natural gas to them, said the press service of the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry. “Based on the outcomes of the July 28 meeting devoted to providing agro-industrial enterprises with natural gas, the Ag Ministry of Ukraine reports that NJSC Naftogaz is signing direct gas supply agreements with them,” the Ministry informed. As reported before, the Ag Ministry estimates that agricultural producers will need 2.5 Bl m3 of natural gas till the end of 2014. At the same time, it expects them to be able to save 0.5 Bl m3 due to the transition to alternative energy sources. Gazprom switched Ukraine to prepayments for Russian gas supplies from June 16, having reduced them to zero for Ukrainians: it only left gas volumes intended for pumping to European consumers.
