Durst Malz & Malteries Soufflet are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached whereby Durst Malz, one of the leading German Maltsters, will become a member of The Soufflet Group as from the 01.10.11.
Durst Malz and The Soufflet Group are Family Companies with a rich history in the grain/malt business. The two companies have known each other now for many years and have had similar objectives, that of adapting to the evolution of their environment. It was during these numerous exchanges that emerged the will to go a stage further and engage upon a merger of the two companies.
This agreement that has been entered into by both companies is very much a question of synergies, sharing our respective competences whilst at the same time protecting and ensuring the perpetration of the identity of Durst Malz. By integrating The Soufflet Group, Durst Malz will be able to take advantage of Malteries Soufflet’s leadership and experience at a pan-European level, especially the malting barley supply chains that have been developed in many different countries. This is an essential point in the German domestic market that relies more and more on imported malting barley.
The structure of Durst Malz will remain unchanged and Andreas Hiby-Durst and his Team will continue to concentrate the Company’s activity on the German domestic market as well as the export of German quality malts to their regular overseas clients. This agreement will not impact on the Company’s existing commercial approach to the German market; on the contrary, Durst Malz will be aiming to consolidate and strengthen their position in the German Market which remains by far the largest malt / beer market in the E.U.
