This would be IFC s second investment in Mriya to support the expansion of its agricultural operations from 220,000ha land area under cultivation to 480,000 ha by 2014 and the construction of new silos. In 2011, the Company plans to add 80,000 ha to its cultivated land.
Mriya Agro Holding ( the Company or Mriya) is an existing IFC client. In 2010, IFC invested in Mriya to support its efforts in expanding the scope of its agricultural operations (Project # 28632). Mriya demonstrated its commitment to continuous improvement of Environmental and Social (E&S) performance and completed, in due dates, the required action items included in the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP).

In addition, IFC has provided to this client advisory services related to energy efficiency and cleaner production.
Available information about the Company s E&S performance derived from the previous IFC investment was analyzed and taken into account during this appraisal. As such, the scope of this review was mainly focused on operations related to further expansion of crop growing and grain processing facilities being constructed.
IFC s environmental and social (E&S) review of this project consisted of a field visit to the Company s local operational offices and selected facilities located in Western Ukraine; meetings and discussions with Mriya s corporate and local management (operational, environment, occupational health and safety, human resources, social) and review of key environmental, occupational health and safety and social documentation provided by Mriya.
