The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) has noted the growth in trade between Ukraine and Malaysia since 2010 and hopes to reach the 2008 figure of $352 million in 2012, which will exceed the figure for 2010 by 31.4%.

"This year we are planning that the trade will reach $280 million. In fact, it will not be an increase, but a return to the volume of trade between Ukraine and Malaysia in 2008 - $352 million. Maybe in a year, we will manage to reach the figure for 2008," Matrade sales coordinator Wan Azhamuddin Jusoh said in Kyiv on Tuesday.

He said that trade between Ukraine and Malaysia in 2009 stood at $228.64 million and in 2010 at $267.9 million.

He said that the main products exported from Malaysia in Ukraine included food, electronics, chemicals, latex, rubber and furniture, while Ukraine exported metal, electronics and sunflower oil to Malaysia.

He noted that auto parts, palm oil and food components, and "green technology" could also be supplied to Ukraine.
