Sugar refinery of Tekhno Chenter may export up to 300k tons of sugar to the United Arab Emirates (Ukraine’s sugar association, “Ukrchukor”). This unusual news is based on the rising cost of cane raw materials which reached, according to the association, 598 USD a ton. The cost of refined Ukrainian sugar ranges from 430 USD to 500 USD, and has become competitive with cane sugar as the result. Additionally Ukraine is expected to refine 2.7 million tons of sugar this season and it needs 1.8 million tons for domestic consumption.
